The Ultimate Up North Kitchen Tour

The 2nd annual "Ultimate Kitchen Tour", held by the Northern Michigan National Kitchen and Bath Association, was a huge success! We had 130 people tour our "Ultimate Kitchen" showcased in a beautifully constructed MAC Custom Home on the shores of Elk Lake. Everyone who stopped in was treated to a tour of the warm contemporary kitchen and complimentary appetizers hosted by Kitchen Choreography, MAC Custom Homes & Design Strategies (The team that worked together to exceed the homeowners expectations!). The folks from Iron Horse Farms along with Coburn Construction and Joseph Mosey Architecture were on hand to see what Northern Michigan's Finest Kitchen & Bath Firm have to offer. If you missed it this year make sure it's on your calendar next year to go on the "Ultimate Kitchen Tour"!

Better Homes and Gardens

Kitchen Choreography is proud to announce that five of our projects have recently been scouted by Better Homes and Gardens. It is very interesting to find out what makes a particular kitchen, "Print worthy". Camera angles depend on how open or confined a layout is and this can greatly affect how much of the design can be included in the shot. The ability to include many of the appliances in the photo as well as other recognized products like granite, Corian, tile, Formica, Custom Hoods, specialty faucets, and unique features within the cabinetry, will make the photo much more marketable to advertisers. It seems that white painted is out at the moment and what many of the magazines are currently looking for are custom paint colors. Warm woods with dark islands, if done correctly, can be a great win for a feature ad and can really set off different elements like stainless appliances and copper hoods. Probably the most interesting feature that is taken into consideration is the function of the design. Most would assume that all they would need is a pretty picture but the fact is it must be well layed out so it does not recieve negative attention and criticism. The vendors who are purchasing these ads want to be represented as higly as possible. Stylists are brought in to prep the areas for the professional photography and much of the budgeted items for the photo shoot are often left with the homowner. Have you ever noticed how coordinated the decorating is in one of these ads? It is not an accident, it is carefully done by a professional interior designer.

Thank you to all of the owners! We could not have done it without your exquisite taste and appreciation of design!

The photos featured are the five projects that were considered and the homeowners were absolutely wonderful for letting us once again invade their homes. Actually, they were all pretty excited to be considered and I hope they all become full page spreads.
